Working at home is possible but it isn’t for everyone if you are considering taking it on here are a few things to think about on getting started. After that here are a few more on keeping it going.
Do Something you Love
– Sit and brainstorm those loves and passions you had as a child or teen and think of what you could do with those and the skills you have obtained in your life.
Be An Expert
– Everyone is good at something most of us have hobbies. If there is an area where you excel and stand out above the crowd this would make an excellent place to start a business.
Do Some Research
– A google search or two can take you a long way to finding out if your ideas can hold water or not. Grab a notebook and scribble down those ideas, good & bad, and what you find out. Going back and reading it a week from now can inspire new ideas and possibilities.
Read Derek Gehl’s Book
– I know this isn’t a tip, but it is some serious advice. I learned so much and found so many great resources through these books, they are so dog eared and stained from me reffering back to my favorite sections until they are ingrained in my head.
Save Your $$ and Calculate Start-Up Costs
- Things like office furniture, letterhead, phone lines, do you need to hire a professional? Childcare? Time off work? How long until you will be making actual $$? All of these things will factor into your ability to make your dreams a reality.
A google search of “home business” brings up page after page of sites saying they can make you rich and all it takes is to read their newsletter, read their tips, use these tools, yadda yadda. Truth be told. YOU have to make it happen. YOU need a viable idea and business plan that will sustain you and your family there are lots out there, be it small or large, they take work and dedication but if you are willing you can make it work.
