Mixed Age Childcare inspired by Waldorf Education
A warm home-like childcare program for children 3-5 years old
We are transitioning to an outdoor based program!
*Starting Fall 2019 drop-off will be at Peterson Creek Park where we will take daily field trips with our outdoor adventuring facilitators. Children will walk 1.2km back to the center on Battle St for lunch and remain there for the afternoon.
“Children who live in an atmosphere of love and warmth, and who have around them truly good examples to imitate, are living in their proper element.”
—Rudolf Steiner, The Education of the Child
Our daily activities follow the pedagogical principles of age appropriate and rhythmical activities with increased variety, depth, and complexity. Our daily activities focus on rhythm, language development through artistic expression, development of social skills, and encompass free play, puppet shows and story telling, cooking and baking, singing and movement games, circle time and painting.
Our work with young children unfolds according to the natural rhythm of the week and the seasons, celebrations of festivals and cycles of stories and verses. The foundation of experiences which our classroom activities are formed around are:
- love and warmth
- an environment that nourishes the senses
- creative and artistic experiences
- meaningful adult activity to be imitated
- free, imaginative play
- protection of the forces of childhood
- gratitude, reverence, and wonder
- joy, humor, and happiness
- adult caregivers pursuing a path of inner development
